Private Guiding in the Weminuche Wilderness

Come expand your alpine climbing in the Colorado’s largest wilderness, the Weminuche Wilderness. Our intimate knowledge of the area will help us choose the most appropriate objective for your program.  From novice hikes and snow climbs, to remote alpine routes that will test even the seasoned climber, the Weminuche Wilderness has something for everybody.  Come experience this alpine climbing paradise, the San Juan Mountains and Weminuche Wilderness.

Most of our programs are offered on a private and custom basis.  This allows you to customize the program to your specific needs.

STEP 1) Start by choosing your objective, or get in touch with our office staff to help select one for you.  Some of the options in the Weminuche Wilderness include but are not limited to

STEP 2) Choose the length of your program.  Typically we recommend one full day to hike in, one to several days of climbing or skiing, and then one day to hike out.  Depending on your objective and background, we can sometimes hike in on day one, climb on day two and then hike out on the same day.

STEP 3) Choose your extra options.  These include extra services such as private porters, food (breakfasts, lunches, dinners or none), arranging your transportation and lodging prior to and after the trip.

  • Porter: $225
    • Focus on the climbing and not your gear.  A porter can carry up to 45 lbs of your personal equipment.  This lightens your load and lets you focus on why you are there!  This could include but is not limited to photography gear, extra clothing, special food for dietary restrictions and more.  An additional $95 per perter fee for trips that involve the train.
  • Food Options:
    • Breakfast and dinners only – $20 per person per day
    • Breakfast, lunches, dinners – $30 per person per day

TheMAC, represented by Anthony Appezzato, operates as an employee of San Juan Expeditions, Aspen Expeditions, and Colorado Adventure Guides, and as such operates under special use permits in the San Juan National Forest, Silverton BLM, Moab BLM, Uncompahgre National Forest, Mt. Rainier National Park, Whiteriver National Forest, Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest areas registered to San Juan Expeditions, Aspen Expeditions, and Colorado Adventure Guides. These guide services are responsible for all special use permits and public land relations through local land management agencies within their respective operational areas.
